Mandan Buffalo Dancer
16"x20" oil. $1,200 The Mandan lived (and still do) on the banks of the Missouri River in eastern Montana and the Dakotas. The Buffalo Dance was an important part of their culture and famed historic painter, Karl Bodmer, created many works of art reflecting his time among the Mandan. Those same paintings have always been of great interest to me. |

Stay Close My Brother
16"x20" oil. $2,100 The bond between a warrior and his best hunting /war horse was unparalleled and not often matched in this day and age. So close were they that a pony was on the same level as a warrior’s brother. They were often kept right outside the tipi and sometimes even brought inside now and again when the weather was at it’s worst. I posed for this painting with my horse Chief but decided to give the man a better looking mug then mine!

Bravery Unmatched
16"x20" oil. $2,100 The Southern Cheyenne Dog Man Society was the epitome of bravery and dedication. Some of them wore a sash that was staked to the ground and vowed to fight to the death or until the enemy was defeated. The only other way out of the vow with honor is to have a fellow Dog Man pull the stake from his "dog rope". This warrior and his brothers behind him are prepared to defend the camp at all costs. In some instances a warrior might paint his face to appear as a skull as shown here. In most cases, a Dog Man would fight with bared torso painted red, however I wanted to have this man shown with a Southern Cheyenne style shirt.
